People usually ask me why I decided to move into Costa Rica. It is a really simple story I have told a million times before, and I will never get tired of reminding myself what the feeling of discovering this little paradise on earth was like back at that time.
We could say it was love at first sight; I had never been to a place that inspired so much happiness and peace to me as Costa Rica did from the very moment that I got off the plane. I knew by then that I had arrived somewhere I was going to find satisfaction and very pleasant times, but I never expected what was this experience was about to turn into.
Once I got to the hotel, I didn´t know what it was that I wanted to do next, I was willing to do a lot of things, I just couldn´t decide what I was to do next. I got down to the lobby and picked up a little real estate promotional flier that caught my attention, and that was the beginning of my relationship with the Costa Rica real estate company that would end up showing me the marvelous piece of property that I ended up acquiring only one month after that day.
Since the very beginning I knew that I was going to feel the need to stay here forever, but then things just happened and my feeling became a wonderful reality that has made me consider that afternoon in the lobby of that Costa Rica hotel one of the most fortunate times in my whole life.

My point of view about Costa Rica

I will start telling here a deeper sight of my story and the factors that I have found to be important in the adventure of coming to this beautiful country and adopting it as a new home place, something that is made easier by the natural disposition of the county to embrace those who are willing to become residents of this wonderful nation.

My vision will focus in topics which I consider to be relevant to those people entering the experience of living in Costa Rica. I have found allover the internet pages that talk about the options for Costa Rica travel and vacation stuff; but my vision is more centered into exposing topics as Costa Rica real estate, applying for residency, or adapting to a new cultural way of seeing things.

I give this advice through the vision of my own experience, and will to the people who helped me in my own adventure and have since then earned my trust and confidence. Any suggestions will always be well received and appreciated, as contributions will make this effort become stronger in capacity and benefit for both my readers and myself, allowing to grow more experienced and sensitive to the different ways of seeing things that people might have.

Not only do I want to tell my story, but I certainly hope that this contribution of mine can decidedly help those in a position similar to mine at the time of first facing the fact of moving to Costa Rica, as the success of this adventure depends enormously in the help and good will of those around you and their willingness and ability to provide you with the best support possible.

A successful Costa Rica travel experience

Costa Rica travel was never really an option to me until I came across a little brochure that someone had left in my office. The piece of advertising material referred to Adventure Sport Tours in the country; you know, white water rafting, bungee jumping, that kind of stuff, people who know me are aware of my fascination for that sort of activities. So I started off as one more of the guys out there who had their first contact with their new life in paradise through Costa Rica travel experiences.

I was 28 by the time I first came into Costa Rica as one more of the thousands of foreign travelers that decide to taste a piece of what this nation and its really warm people have to offer. I planned everything so I would hardly spend two weeks in the country, traveling between a number of small towns in order to see as many of the best options within my range of interest as possible. You might say that I am the hyperactive kind of traveler, some people are better off staying at one single place and having everything they need at their reach, that was and is still available too, but I am more the type of guy that wants to look around for what he wants, and go there to get it.

I needed the guidance of somebody both knowledgeable and trustworthy in my new adventure, especially as a first timer. I could never be grateful enough to Manny and Sarah, who were always helping me throughout my trip to make sure that I was both happy and safe. They explained to me about how to find the best deals possible, where the quality service providers could be found, what to expect from people around me, helped me out with my residency and legal stuff, and eventually introduced me to the Costa Rica travel and real estate firm that provided me the services to buy the beautiful piece of property that would become my new home, but that’s a story that I am planning to tell later. These two wonderful people were so kind to teach me my first basic Spanish skills, now I can say I stand pretty strong in that field.

It has been eight years since that day now, when I started off as one more traveler, to finally come in love with my new home.
